After completing his primary and secondary education in Karşıyaka in İzmir, he entered the Turkish Military Academy and graduated in 1988. Later, he received a bachelor's degree from the Department of Journalism at Marmara University Faculty of Communication, and a master's degree from the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Istanbul University Faculty of Economics. He completed his doctorate at Ege University.

As a researcher and academic, he has worked at international institutions such as Trento University and Hunan University, conducting destination-based research. He has conducted academic studies in Syria and China at various times and published books on these topics. Halen Okan Üniversitesi’nde profesör olarak çalışmaktadır. İyi derecede İngilizce bilen Gürson, evli ve üç çocuk babasıdır.
