After completing his primary and secondary education in Karşıyaka in İzmir, he entered the Turkish Military Academy and graduated in 1988. Later, he received a bachelor's degree from the Department of Journalism at Marmara University Faculty of Communication, and a master's degree from the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Istanbul University Faculty of Economics. He completed his doctorate at Ege University.

He has worked as a research scholar at international institutions such as the University of Trento and Hunan University, conducting destination-based research. At various times, he carried out academic studies in Syria and China and has published books on these subjects. He is currently serving as the Vice Rector at Girne American University. Gürson is fluent in English, married, and a father of three children.
